Getting to Know Jackson (Jack) Cord
Our new Children’s & Family Minister, Jackson (Jack) Cord, took the time to answer a few questions from our communications desk this past week. We certainly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know him a bit better, and we hope you will too! Below are our questions and his answers:
Q: What made you want to be the new Children’s & Family Minister at St. Andrew’s?
A: I think working with children is very enjoyable as they bring unique perspectives to life. Additionally, I found that the St. Andrew’s community was both welcoming and open to everyone which I believe helps children in particular become the best versions of themselves they can be. When I found out the Children’s and Family Minister position became available I knew I wanted to help facilitate learning in such a wonderful place.
Q: Tell us a story about a moment in ministry or service that was meaningful to you.
A: When I was on the Reformed University Fellowship’s ministry team I got the opportunity to lead a bible study for about 20 weeks. Over the course of those weeks I got to watch as the group that met once a week slowly turned into a small community which built up and supported each other. Getting to participate and observe the benefits of good ministry and fellowship was deeply meaningful to me and led me to realize that I want to be involved in ministry when possible.
Q: What’s your favorite part about working with Children & Families?
A: I love getting to listen to children and understand their perspectives on life. I find that they are very capable of thinking outside the box and getting to watch them learn brings me a lot of joy. Collaborating with families so that members of every generation can learn and grow together is also one of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of ministry, as it fosters deeper connections and lasting spiritual growth.
Q: What’s a fun fact everyone should know about you?
A: A fun fact about me is that I love to bake! There’s nothing better than filling the house with the smell of fresh cookies or trying out a new recipe for a sweet treat.
Q: Anything else you want to say to the folks reading our blog?
A: Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better! I’m so excited to connect with all of you and be a part of this amazing community. Don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to hear your favorite baking recipes or chat about anything on your mind!
